Welcome. We’re glad you’re here.

Our approach is mindfulness based, trauma informed and choice centered.

In our classes, we use movement and breathing to practice tuning in to how things are right now in our bodies, thoughts, and emotions.  We don’t have to like or dislike what we notice.  We also don’t have to change it~that will happen in time.  We start by listening, with compassion and curiosity, to what our bodies have to say.  As we become more connected, we start to see what steps we can take to reach our goals, whether that is strengthening the body, becoming more flexible, managing stress, healing from trauma or building confidence in our lives off the mat.

MINDFULNESS BASED

Our classes emphasize mind~body connection and awareness over fitness or exercise.

TRAUMA INFORMED

We use invitational language in all of our classes, and are passionate about adapting practices to your unique needs.  There are no hands on assists, we use verbal cues to help you discover a shape in a way that feels right for you.

CHOICE CENTERED

The only goal of a yoga practice is to experience and perhaps learn from the practice.  This means the practice should be directed by you.  All movements, breath exercises, and meditations we offer are invitations, and we teach in a way that encourages you to opt out or change the practice as you go.

WE OFFER AN EVIDENCE BASED APPROACH TO WORKING WITH CHRONIC STRESS, ANXIETY, INSOMNIA, COMPLEX TRAUMA AND POST TRAUMATIC STRESS

All instructors at DustOff Yoga have completed specialized education and training in trauma informed yoga practices and attend quarterly continuing education offered by the studio or through approved trauma focused programs.

Trauma comes in many forms.  Often, experiences of trauma can leave us feeling disconnected from our bodies or our sense of self.  We may have difficulty making decisions, or accessing a felt sense of safety.  Our therapeutic style of Hatha yoga is designed to help us reconnect to our bodies in a safe, gradual way.

We are a certified facilitator of Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY), the first research-supported yoga intervention for trauma. Additionally, we employ practices that are grounded in research, acting as a bridge between mind and body to rewire the nervous system and promote healing. Our safe and sensitive space is designed to help you learn regulation skills through breath connection and heightened body awareness.

At the heart of our program development is a deep understanding of the profound impact of trauma and violence on the entire mind-body system, encompassing neurological, biological, psychological, and social aspects. Our programs are a fusion of neuroscience, neurobiology, and somatic therapeutics, addressing the challenges that arise after traumatic events or exposure. We prioritize safety, consistency, and individual choice, offering supportive, skill-based programs tailored to unique individual needs. Our programs are grounded in integrative breath techniques, guided movement, meditation, rest, and gratitude practices.

Our goal is to enable you to reconnect with your body in a safe and comfortable way through our therapeutic programs and yoga practices.

  • Eevee is a Belgian Malinois born on 9/11/19 in Poland. She began training for a career in law enforcement, traveling to Germany for advanced tactics and emigrating to the United States in 2021, however just like us humans she discovered that her 1st career really wasn’t her ‘dream’ job. Eevee knew she still wanted to work with humans so when given the opportunity she poured her heart into becoming a veteran service K9 and was paired with Jennifer.

Eevee may look tough on the outside, but she’s a big softie at heart! Ever vigilant and highly sensitive with an incredible work ethic, she understands three languages, hand signals and many commands for human assistance.

When she’s not working she enjoys exploring mountain tops, digging up rocks, chewing her favorite toy and spreading happiness wherever she goes.

We understand that not everyone likes dogs~please let us know if you have any concerns. If you love dogs (we get it, she melts our heart too) and you see Eevee at the studio please remember that she is working. Please do not stare at her, approach her without permission, or distract her… and remember this is a Trauma Sensitive studio and the “No Hands On” policy includes her!

Through her teachings Marie aims to guide others towards greater embodiment, vitality, and enjoyment of life with her lighthearted, playful style. Why “DustOff”?

If you ever served in the military our logo may look familiar ~ that’s because it mimics the Air Force medical badge worn by our Founder, Veteran and First Responder Jennifer Green.

For our civilian community, DUSTOFF (Dedicated Unhesitating Service to our Fighting Forces) refers to an elite community of aircrew members who risk their own lives to save the lives of others. Dating back to the Vietnam War, unarmed DUSTOFF helicopters have deliberately flown into harm's way to transport critically injured patients from the point of injury to definitive care.

Jennifer's experience as a military member and civilian included multiple deployments overseas as both a medic and nurse, a mass casualty disaster response team member, and explosive detection k9 handler, created a maelstrom of symptoms that impacted her family greatly as she struggled with post traumatic stress. After years of traditional therapy and medications, she found the practices of yoga and meditation eased the debilitating effects of trauma and profoundly changed her life.

She recognized that warriors need assistance in navigating their post-war and post-shift lives in a society that struggles to understand them and a system that is failing to support them as they battle both the visible and invisible wounds of war and created DustOff Yoga.

DustOff understands that trauma effects not just our military warriors and first responders but our entire society. We are committed to serving our communities, fostering post traumatic growth, resiliency and ending the stigma related to mental health challenges.
